II.  Tata Bahasa

Kata people bisa 1 orang juga bisa banyak orang maka tidak ada bentuk jamaknya.

 Misalnya :   There are three persons = There are three people

There is / There are jika diletakkan di depan kalimat berarti ada

Misalnya :   There are five bananas and three apples in the basket

                   Ada lima pisang dan tiga apel dalam keranjang

Kata bear memiliki banyak arti, lebih banyak dipakai dalam bentuk past tense untuk arti melahirkan, bahkan lebih sering dipakai untuk kalimat pasif. Bisa juga pakai kata birth atau give birth.

Misalnya       She bore three children. 

                     She gives birth three children.

                     Dia melahirkan 3 anak

                      

                     She has borne him three sons.

                     She has given birth (to) three sons

                     Dia telah melahirkan untuknya 3 anak

                     When were you born, Maria?

                     When were your birth, Maria?

                     Kapan kamu dilahirkan, Maria?

                     I was born on the seventeenth of August

                    Saya dilahirkan pada tanggal 17 Agustus

III.  Cara membuat kalimat

Cara mengucapkan hari ulang tahun, antara lain:

     Happy birthday!

     Happy birthday to you!

Ada ucapan agar kebahagiaan terus terulang pada ulang tahun yaitu

     Many happy returns of the day

Ucapan di atas punya makna supaya kamu panjang umur

When is her birthday?         Her birthday is on August the seventeenth

Kapan ulang tahunnya?       Ultahnya tgl 17 Agustus

Wow! It’s same with the independence day

 Wo!   Sama dengan hari kemerdekaan

Are you going to celebrate birthday party? Yes, of course

Kamu akan merayakan pesta ulang tahun?   Ya, tentu saja

Whose birthday is today?     Today is Maria’s birthday

Ulang tahun siapa hari ini?   Hari ini ulang tahun Maria

How old is she now?             She is seventeen years old now

What age is she now?           She is seventeen now  

Berapa umur dia sekarang?   Dia umur 17 sekarang

Sudahkan dia kirim kartu undangan ke teman-temannya?
